Oct 19, 2016  Amati Kraslice Clarinet Serial Number. Nazi regalia. After WWII, the firm was 'nationalized' into the Amati. Amati's website says the cooperative was founded. Kohlerts became workmen in their own factory. Keilwerth family. It also has 'Made in Czech Republic' stamped on the top end of the lower section below the serial number. The bell has AMATI KRASLICE. Stamped on it.

By AJ on 9 September 2018 Hi, we just purchased a beautiful maple bassoon, the wood is gorgeous (but not as stripped as I have seen). I have found no brand marks. Under the keys are a single number 5.

We purchased this from a reputable seller of new and used instruments. We purchased a prograde wood clarinet from them in the past. They gave us a pretty steep discount (and a return guarantee) because they could not locate the brand but agreed the wood and playing quality suggests it is a fox. Any thoughts?

You don't mention whether this is a new or used instrument. I don't know about a 'Fisher' with that spelling, but if it's a used Carl Fischer clarinet, then it's a stencil instrument. It's called that because Fischer (same company as the big music publisher and stores) didn't actually manufacture clarinets. Fischer had the brand name stencilled onto clarinets made by other companies.

Over the years, a number of different manufacturers made clarinets under the 'Fischer' stencil. The quality varies a great deal, although I believe most(if not all) of these were student instruments. I've been trying to find out who made my student quality Fischer hard rubber clarinet (probably from the late 1940s or early 1950s) with no success, and have been unable to find information on the Internet about who made what, when under the Fischer brand name, so I'd be interested in more information.
