2a) It does not really address the usability. The blocks I use have up to 40 images. It would be more than unpractical to delete all 40 images individually first and the delete the empty block afterwards. In our case I have on one page about 30 blocks in a row, two together representing one artist. So after separating from that artist I deleted the according pair of blocks (via red trashcan) and all seemed fine. Now when I view the page while working on it or when publishing it I always get that error note (see below) which asks individually for all the image which were trashed before and which are nowhere shown or needed on the site anymore.
